My MC is a portal application that presents and combines both secured (encrypted) and unsecured (non-encrypted) information. All pages that display and/or solicit student records, grades, credit card numbers, social security numbers, etc. are encrypted. Montgomery College uses Network Solutions as its certificate authority.
Certain information may not be encrypted, such as general information, personal and collegewide announcements, etc. General information is secured and personalized to the individual by individual login credentials (e.g., My MC ID and Password).
Since My MC utilizes frames in its architecture, it may not consistently display the familiar padlock icon on the lower bottom right of the screen through all browsers. Security information is displayed inconsistently through different browsers and versions.
To verify encryption through Internet Explorer, please do the following:
Internet Explorer 6.x (or later)
Hint: If you see 'SSL' on the third line (Connection), it is your indication that the data is being encrypted.
Alternatively, you can click the Certificates button and view the Certificate information there.
Firefox 2.0.x (or later)
You can right-click within the frame, choose This Frame and Show Only This Frame. Then, right-click, choose View Page Info and click the Security tab to view the security information.
Note on Accessing My MC through Shared or Public Personal Computers:
To protect the security and confidentiality of your records, remember to logout completely when you have finished your transactions.

To resolve this issue, you can either temporarily turn off your pop-up blocker, or add the My MC site to your list of acceptable sites.
The most common pop-up blockers and how to either disable them or add My MC as an accepted site, are listed below:
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) currently uses a weekly scheduled downtime period to conduct system maintenance. The downtime occurs between Sunday at 12:01 am through Sunday at 6:00 am each week. During this time, systems like My MC may or may not be available. Routine maintenance of the College's computer systems will occur during this period.
Please plan accordingly for your classes, timing of student assignment due dates, and work efforts. This planned and consistent system maintenance time is used to allow faculty, students, and administration to better schedule the use of College applications and decrease the number of varying maintenance times and associated communications from OIT.
